The San Diego Convention Center

The San Diego Convention Center was built in 1989 and was designed by Arthur Erickson. It is located right next to the Gaslamp Quarter and the San Diego Bay. In this project work, we were inspired by the San Diego Convention Center’s impact on our economy. The San Diego Convention Center has increased our local economy exponentially due to Comic-Con and other local events.
So far this year the San Diego Convention Center has had a regional impact of $1.4 billion dollars. This year, the San Diego Convention has hosted around 160 events. Furthermore, people spent $9.53 million dollars on public transportation last year when attending events at the San Diego Convention Center.
In our project my partner and I made a short film to symbolize the Convention Center’s contributions to San Diego’s thriving economy. We also had an environmental aspect as the Convention Center is right on the waterfront and there is currently an invasive species in the water known as the Mediterranean Mussel.
