OUR TROLLEY LINE
HIGH TECH HIGH MEDIA ARTS
11TH GRADE HUMANITIES AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE PROJECT
DECEMBER 12TH, 2017, FROM 5:00 - 7:00
This semester, our collaborative project tackled San Diego's "living histories" as told through lenses of immigration, urban planning, natural landscapes, and the native and invasive biodiversity of our region. Student pairs researched and explored selected stops along our trolley lines, developed a collaborative thesis, wrote research papers, and created short, highly-edited interactive audio and visual pieces that highlight the complexity of socio-economic, cultural, political, and environmental histories of our border city. Each student group has designed transit stop logos which call attention to the site-specific human and natural histories. Finally, students documented native and invasive biodiversity at their sites using the citizen science app iNaturalist, the maps of which can be accessed on each project page.
