Paradise: Immigration in Chula Vista

 

For our project, we first investigated the history of San Diego and its metropolitan transit. We then explored the H Street trolley stop in Chula Vista and became interested in immigration.

 

Our project focuses on immigration and the idea of "paradise."

 

We chose this topic because Chula Vista welcomes immigrants. For many immigrants, the idea of paradise is a place to safely raise a family. And Chula Vista provides that place with its welcoming and safe environment.

 

Our video shows the struggles immigrants face to give their family a better opportunity in life. Not only do we closely relate to this topic, but it but it is a very controversial issue in today’s political sphere. We both have family members that live in Mexico that go through various hardships to have a better quality of life.

 

We hope to shed light on the ways that immigrants are ordinary people trying to provide the best opportunities for their families.
