OUR TROLLEY LINE
Lemon Grove
Lemon Grove is often stereotyped as a dangerous city full of violence. In reality, it has a vibrant community and a rich history.
For our project, we investigated the history of San Diego and its metropolitan transit. We then became interested in Lemon Grove which led us to its reputation and how it is misunderstood by San Diego at large. In our podcast, we highlight interviews of Lemon Grove resident, Keara Gohanna and the City Manager, Lydia Romero.
Our inspiration actually came from our own stereotypes prior to research. Once we left our own biases behind and researched the city, our opinions completely changed. We saw that crime was not as prevalent as we once thought, and upon even more research we found that Lemon Grove as a city, is a very interactive and unique place.
We hope people walk away with a positive outlook on Lemon Grove, and also we want them not to preemptively judge things based on stereotypes. In challenging our own stereotypes, we urge others to challenge theirs.
